Melissa Hindman has been working in not-for-profit organizations for 15 years, with a focus on community development. She leads with purpose to raise funds for vital social infrastructure in our community and mobilize collective action. Melissa knows firsthand the challenges faced by the farming community and feels strongly that the support of this directory brings hope to the community. Hope starts with each of us in how we show up for our community and support the future we want to live in.
United Way Leeds & Grenville builds hope by raising funds each year that impact the top community needs identified in regular conversations with communities across Leeds & Grenville (identified in 2023: Housing and Homelessness, Food Security, Children and Youth, Mental Health and Addictions). We respect history by funding applications made by eligible providers for programs and services that fall under our three pillars: From Poverty to Possibility, All That Kids Can Be, and Strong Communities to improve access to social and health-related supports.
Eligible community organizations apply annually to receive funding for their projects from April to March the following year. Applications are reviewed by committed volunteers, who represent Leeds & Grenville, who then make recommendations to our volunteer Board of Directors to make the funding decisions.
Our community needs more than we can raise at this time, so we have committed to an ambitious strategic plan that will support fundraising development and diversification, organizational stability and development, while we continue to work toward impacting our community’s greatest needs.
